Of veins and heartbeats.

If you want to be happy,

Be.

If you wanna be with someone,

Be.

Too little in this world is real,

Can’t you see?

Too long you’ve taken to heal,

Go, be free.

Kohl-lined eyes, Lips painted red,

Stereotypical vanity,

On the edge of a dangerous affair,

A clear surface, A turbulent sea.

Fiery veins, pounding heartbeats,

In the search of Normality,

the winds have changed and so have we,

If you want to be happy, won’t you be?

Ernest Hemingway once said, ‘Poor Faulkner, does he really think that big emotions come from big words?’

Sometimes our little words are best we can find. They are true-er than true.

A Sky full of Stars.

So the second I read about NaPoWriMo prompt 2- Stars, Coldplay’s A sky full of stars started playing in my head. Very Loudly, might I add. The title of this post could be no other.

There’s a beautiful, relatively unknown spot about 2 hours drive from my city. I used to go stargazing there as a child. It remains, to date, one of my favourite memories and it the inspiration for this poem

A Sky full of Stars.

There’s this picture in my head, you see,

Of a tiny plateau,in a region hilly.

And when you stand at the edge of that, dearie,

You’re as alone as alone can be.

And then you look up at a glittering sky,

Wonder at the tales of years gone by.

And as untrue as some of them may be,

The stars are real and so are we.

Nothing much to see, but everything you want to be.

Strong and fiery yet tempered grace.

With hidden facets yet an open embrace.

I’ve never felt smaller.

Or positively Faulkner.

Here is where I belong.

Away from the noise, away from the crowd,

There’s no one here to talk of,

Just a soul on the ground and the sky above

Lying on the hood of this old jeep,

It’s just me,and my thoughts are the company I keep.

Thoughts of dreams and hopes and love and lies.

Thoughts to fill a Sky full of stars.

It is, or isn’t it?

Hello readers,

I’m officially kickstarting the 2015 NaPoWriMo today. Wish me luck! have fun reading and remember to tell me what you think!

Day 1: A Poem on negation.

It’s not a ray of sunshine,

But then again who needs Vitamin D?

It can hardly be considered true and fair,

But there’s nothing grander a love affair.

Not very reasonable on the best of its days,

All too easily found on sunny beaches in bays.

For some it is most clandestine,

Ask Helen of Troy, she knows how it’s been.

Not a harbinger of peace that I can sing,

For this little feeling, swords did swing.

Yet were it not for love, and lust too or so I hear,

What in the world would we hold dear?

The Dismissal of Happily Ever After. Chapter 1.

Chapter 1- The opposite of a volcano is a butterfly

~~*~~

It is a truth universally acknowledged…..

Two people who like each other should be together.
It was always just that simple.
Then we grew up. Grew wary of being reckless with a heart that has a jagged scar down its side.
And so we let people go, never telling them what we wanted to say.
Because all wounds heal with time, but some bleed again at the slightest touch.

You’ve stayed up all night, replaying memories behind your tired eyelids.
Waiting for sleep, praying for that elusive unconsciousness .
But this heart wasn’t meant for a cold empty bed.
There’s only so many times you can lie to  yourself.

Two people who understand each other should be together.
It wasn’t meant to be a competition of who knows best for you.
Sacrifice doesn’t quite have the charm of a Hollywood star.
All their tears are pretty.

You’ve held your head up.
It’s taken you 20 years to love yourself.
Don’t wait on a bridge for a love that isn’t ready.
There is still fire in your veins, I promise.

Two people who like each other should be together.
It was always supposed to be that simple.
Then we grew some more.

The Dismissal of Happily Ever After. Prologue.

She closed the blue book, rubbed her tired eyes with ink stained fingers and blinked sleepily at the clock.
2.03am
She sighed, falling back onto her bed, her dark hair spread out on the pale pink sheets beneath her.
‘Another sleepless night’  She hated nights like these, when the thoughts would simply not be silenced. When the ‘what ifs’ of life were playing like a bad movie in her head. When you questioned everything you ever believed.
About life.
About humanity.
About yourself.

For you see, dear reader, our heroine was plagued not by a disease, or a hardship.
Her problem was far more common.
Disease can be cured.
Hardship dealt with.

But what do you do when you’re awake in the middle of the night feeling like a shadow, like you’d melt away at the slightest light?
Waiting for something, anything, to make you feel better?

We all stuggle.
With life.
With love.
With humanity.
With ourselves.
So I suppose she was, just like you and I.
This is the story of a girl who learnt to love herself, for all the days someone else wouldn’t.

Bad Reputation.

~I got a bad reputation,
We got ourselves a bad situation.~Haley Bonar(Bad Reputation)

Today I have something to say to all of you, but especially to three people who are more amazing than they will ever realize.
So far, on this blog, we’ve seen a lot of angst and let’s be honest, there’s probably more to come. But not today.

Today is for happiness, and a good book, and cup of tea.
Today is for hugs and laughter and silly jokes.
Today is for you.

When Life gives you Lemons by Sanjana18

For you I have the words of Iain Thomas-
“And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling, “This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this!” And each day, it’s up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say, “No. This is what’s important.”

Today is also for cuddles with a dog. And squishy hugs. And pride and prejudice viewing.
Today is for taking a break.
Today is for you.

Constance and change by rhapsodiesofmymind

For you, I have my own words,
‘You are more than the sum of your parts.
More than the worries that plague you.
More than the things that pull you down.
You are more my love.
You are sunshine and shade.
You are enough.’

Today is for Potter love. And John Green love. And Game of Thrones love.
Today is for being unapologetic in who you are.
Today is you.

Empire of Dirt by Dreamyworldofthesleepygirl

For you I have Albert Einstein-
Because the only thing you absolutely need to know is the location of the Library.

So it’s time to be happy.
If not, well I suppose we’ll just have to have cake.

Strangers make me Smile.|Kalaghoda 2014.

This year’s Kalaghoda Festival was a much needed break from routine monotony.

A lovely day of roaming around with my camera. From this to this post here. The last Year has seen a lot of changes.

But the more things change. the more they stay the same.  And this festival-of art, colour and happiness reminds me that C.S. Lewis was right-“There are far better things in Life than any we leave behind.”
